Valentine's Day Card - Coutts Canada Rufftex Fold-Out Valentine (early 1940s)
Valentine's Day Card - Coutts Canada Rufftex Fold-Out Valentine (early 1940s)
If your sweetheart is an ephemera lover, this is such a great alternative to flowers for Valentine's Day! This Rufftex fold-out Valentine tells a cute story and it's full of fun, old-timey illustrations.
Coutts was a Canadian greeting card company that joined forces with Hallmark in the early 1940s and before being fully absorbed in 1948. Examples of cards from the mid-40s onwards are stamped "Hallmark," so with some digging, I feel confident in saying that this card predates 1943. It's in great shape for eighty! Very cool Valentine's Day gift for someone who collects this era.
Condition Notes: Bright, vibrant illustrations on textured brown paper. A chunk is missing from one of the corners (see image where card is fully unfolded), but otherwise it's in very good condition. Not written in or marked with pen at all.
Size: 6" x 5" // folds out to 9" x 23"
